The Juror of Awards will choose awards after the paintings have been received. Cash awards in excess of $2000 will be awarded.

Open to residents of 14 states: CO, IA, ID, KS, MN, ND, NE, OK, OR, SD, UT, WA, and WY. All entrants must be at least 18 years old. Each entry must be the work of a single artist, and executed within the past two years. Works previously entered and accepted are not eligible.

Frank Webb is a Dolphin Fellow of the American Watercolor Society. He has more than ninety awards from national painting competitions and is the author of three books. Biographical publications which include Webb are "Who's Who in American Art" and "Who's Who in the East". Webb is a frequent juror and has also conducted painting workshops in all 50 states and in other worldwide locations. His works are included in numerous museums and corporate collections.

Artwork must be painted as transparent watercolor, applied only in a transparent manner. Medium must be based in a gum arabic binder; pigment must be resoluble in water. Use of white, acrylic, gouache, ink, pastel, colored pencil, metallic, collage or surface constructions will not be allowed. Works must be painted on a single piece of untreated paper. Use of gesso, priming, or embossing is not permitted. Handmade paper must be free of pigment and/or imbedded materials.

Accepted work must be quality framed behind plexiglas, and wired to hang. Top mats must be white, off-white or very light neutral, no exceptions. Color filets are acceptable. Maximum frame size cannot exceed 50" in either direction. Minimum image size is 8" x 10" (80 sq. in.).

All works must be reviewed by the NPWS screening committee for Prospectus infringements. This committee's decisions are final. If works do not pass the final screening, they will not be exhibited and will be returned at the artist's expense. Jurying will be based only on the artwork.

The slides of accepted work will be retained permanently by NPWS for use for publicity and show publication only. Prairie Edge will handle all sales. A 35% commission will be charged.

Artists are responsible for insuring their paintings to and from the exhibition. Prairie Edge provides insurance during the exhibition. Neither NPWS nor Prairie Edge will be responsible for damage or loss of artwork during shipment.

The entrance fee for NPWS members is $15.00 for up to three slides. The fee for non-members is $20.00 for up to three slides. Due at the time of shipping, an uncrating/crating fee of $10.00 per crate will be charged to all accepted entrants. This fee must be enclosed with the accepted painting(s) and in an envelope attached to the back of painting(s).

Artists are responsible for shipping fees both ways. Paintings must be wrapped in foam, bubble wrap, or paper packing.

No peanuts, please. Any repairs made necessary by poor packing or improper framing will be billed to the artist.

Each artist may enter up to three original watercolors. Two paintings per artist may be selected. Slides must be mounted in 2" x 2" cardboard or plastic holders. Slides should be protected for shipment but easily removed for viewing. Artists may not substitute another work for accepted originals, nor change the sale price, nor withdraw accepted entries.

Enclose a #10 SASE for notification of acceptance and return of unaccepted slides. Label slides as shown below. Mark each slide with your name, title of artwork and an arrow pointing up. Include both image and frame dimensions. Indicate #1, #2, or #3 in the upper right-hand corner to identify entries.
